With an increase in demand for Iron Ore, this Western Australian mine site ramped up production.
National Pump and Energy was called on as additional flows of tails from the processing plant, were required to meet this Pilbara site’s new production targets.
NPE installed an inline slurry booster system to support existing tails waste pumps volumes.
By providing a complete end-to-end solution, NPE saved the customer time and money.
NPE managed the planning and commissioning – with considered procurement and supply of materials.
NPE were able to offer comprehensive engineering support throughout the planning phase with pressure and flow calculations and equipment suitability through to confirmations in the commissioning phase before handover.
Onsite, the experienced NPE installation crew performed minor earthworks and HDPE welding to assemble custom bypass lines, in addition to the booster equipment.

NPE supplied a HM200/QSX15 slurry pump, 4500lt Fuel Tank, an aligned gland flush pump and paired generator and controller, solar charging panel, break tanks and telemetry.

Slurry Booster for Rio Tinto

The new solution, tailored to Rio Tinto’s application, provides for a tails waste line bypass system to improve the existing flows from their plant as required.
For improved accessibility and transparency of operations, the system can also be remotely monitored via the NPE telemetry gateway – providing essential data for product pressure and flow rates, as well as key system information.

The ongoing relationship with the customer has NPE providing proactive servicing and preventative maintenance.

Pilbara sales specialist Brett Cook said the competence of the team, professional installation, equipment selection and system reliability had immediate benefits for the client.
“With improved efficiencies,  the client was able to concentrate on their core activity of mining,” Mr Cook said.
