National Pump & Energy were able to fast track an order for a Northern Queensland coal mine to ensure it would arrive before Christmas.
The client required a water winning pump to be used in a very shallow dam with the main depth 100m from shore.
A traditional shore mount wasn’t an option due to the water level and distance from shore.
Diesel pontoon mount didn’t suit the application either due to the shallow depth of the water. The water wasn’t deep enough to float a standard diesel pontoon.
The situation called for a shallow water solution.
NPE purpose built a custom pontoon and frame – allowing for very shallow draft but also enabling the pump to be lowered and submerged once in deeper water.

The projected initially had a lead time of three to four weeks which would have seen it arrive on site mid-January.
With a last minute call to NPE, two days before Christmas, the client informed us the project had become critical due to a lack of water on site.
NPE pulled out all the stops – loading out from our Mackay branch on Christmas Eve to get the equipment to site.

Project equipment list

  • Custom engineered pontoon
  • 100kVA Generator
