Key Accountabilities

About the role:

Are you a qualified Electrician/Electrical Fitter with a keen interest in SCADA, PLC and telemetry projects? In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on complex industrial electrical installations involving automation, instrumentation, and SCADA & IOT cloud-based systems. In this role, you will work from the Welshpool workshop with occasional travel to local project sites.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Preventive maintenance of water and wastewater electrical and telemetry infrastructure networks

• Reactive/breakdown maintenance of water and wastewater electrical and telemetry infrastructure

• Installation of electrical infrastructure and systems to current Australian Standards and client specifications

• Design, development, testing and commissioning of industrial automation projects

• Electrical installation works and drawing mark-ups

• Keeping accurate records of installations, system changes & maintenance performed

• Evaluation, troubleshooting, test and repair of NPE flow monitoring equipment and instrumentation (data loggers, sensors, and telemetry devices, calibration equipment and other monitoring equipment)

• Provide technical support to NPE personnel, clients and other end users of NPE equipment

• Investigate and test new monitoring technologies

• Scheduled on call/after-hours response as required

• Perform instrumentation verification and calibration

• Perform telemetry system checks

• Assist with pumpstation upgrades

• Network system installation and upgrades (TCP/IP skills)

• Deliver excellent customer service to champion the NPE brand

Skills/ Selection Criteria (qualifications & experience)

Essential:

• Current Driver’s Licence

• Relevant Trade Certificate (Electrical/Electrical Fitter/Airconditioning and Refrigeration)

• Electrical Licence (or Restricted Electrical)

• Demonstrated experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation and controls

• Exposure to telemetry systems using SCADA and IoT platforms with a sound knowledge of relevant SCADA telemetry protocols

• Demonstrated experience and understanding of Linux, C, C++, SQL, Python and SDLC

• Ability to template Markup Language (JSON and YAML)

• Skilled with SCM (with preference of Git)

• Proven experience with CI/CD concepts

• Knowledge of MQTT and Telecommunications concepts and network TCP/IP communications (including wireless technologies)

• Demonstrated expertise working with distributed network systems, VPN, and common network interfaces

• Intermediate programming and software experience (PLC, Python, Javascript)

• Technical competency including instrumentation, SCADA / PLC / RTU, fault finding and commissioning

• Experience with 4-20mA instruments and control systems

• Knowledge of ModBus systems and an ability to decode registers

• Demonstrated experience with micro-controllers (Arduino, Raspberry PI)

 

Desirable:

• Experience in preventative maintenance and new installations of electrical systems associated with water infrastructure would be advantageous

• Instrumentation Qualification (Cert III/IV)

• Diesel and electrical pump experience
