Sewer Treatment Plant Wellpoint Dewatering – NSW

National Pump & Energy (NPE) was engaged to provide a wellpoint dewatering solution for the construction of two new clarifiers at a MidCoast Council STP.
The project required effective groundwater control within excavations extending to approximately 6 metres below ground level. Site investigations identified predominantly fine to medium-grained sandy soils, with groundwater inflows estimated between 10 and 50 litres per second. Maintaining dry and stable excavation conditions was critical to allow the construction works to proceed safely and efficiently.
To support the client's construction program, NPE designed and supplied two dedicated wellpoint dewatering systems to facilitate the concurrent construction of both clarifiers. The solution included the installation of two 80-metre wellpoint systems to a depth of 7 metres using a 20-tonne excavator.
The wellpoint systems were designed to lower groundwater levels within the 24-metre diameter sheet-piled excavations, providing effective groundwater control and maintaining stable excavation conditions throughout the project.
By delivering a reliable and efficient dewatering solution, NPE is helping to minimise groundwater-related construction delays and support the successful delivery of this critical wastewater infrastructure upgrade.
