Onsite Ammonia Treatment and Discharge Enablement – Newcastle
National Pump & Energy (NPE) were engaged to address elevated ammonia levels in a client’s storm water retention pond after several significant rain events. The ponds were at capacity and needed treatment prior to being able to discharge offsite.
Supplementing the customers ongoing existing efforts, NPE designed and delivered an onsite water treatment system to enable compliant offsite discharge, specifically targeting elevated ammonia levels.
The treatment train successfully reduced ammonia to a level that could not be detected, allowing the client to discharge water from site. Following the successful performance of the NPE-designed treatment plant, the client extended the scope of works.
Delivered over a six-week period, the project highlighted NPE’s strong design and installation capability and demonstrated the potential to replicate this solution across waste facilities nationwide.
