Wastewater Treatment Plant – Digester Cleaning in South Australia

NPE was engaged to undertake the full cleaning of Digester #6 at the SA Water Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Works. Awarded in December 2025, the project commenced in early January 2026 and was delivered on schedule.

The works involved the complete pumping and cleaning of the digester using NPE’s chopper submersible pump and HPU, along with the installation of all suction and discharge piping. NPE managed every aspect of the cleaning process, including working at heights, confined space entry, and coordination of a contract crane provider, with a 65‑tonne crane positioned onsite throughout the pumping phase. The team also oversaw vacuum truck operations and waste disposal, ensuring the digester was thoroughly cleaned and fully sanitised by project completion.

This project was a strong demonstration of collaboration across the NPE network, with specialist support provided by branches in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, highlighting the capability and reach of the wider East Coast team.
