NPE was contracted to undertake the design, installation and operation of the dewatering system for this project.

The NPE inhouse Civil Construction Engineering team completed this work then ensured that the design was compliant with the external regulatory  requirements.

A highly skilled team of 6 were utilised to install the dewatering systems onsite over the course of a few weeks.

Ongoing monitoring, maintenance and supervision was completed by a team of 4 on a FIFO basis. This site presented varying environmental challenges as it was located within a flood plain that experienced substantial tidal changes up to 8 metres.

The entire project was also completed within the live operations area for the ports stockpiling and ship loading facilities.

Works consisted of the drilling and installation of wellpoint dewatering systems in order to reduce the natural ground water by 5 metres.

A bespoke sophisticated alarmed monitoring system was designed and deployed by NPE  to monitor for any leakage of contaminated groundwater.

All groundwater collected was pumped into a lined dam prior to passing through a groundwater filtration plant.

Once decontaminated, excess groundwater water was then pumped to a larger infiltration pond.
