MX Nationals Rd 2

National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team riders had an up and down weekend at round 2 of the Motul MX Nationals.

Round 1 winner Matt Moss showed signs of why the red plates were on his KX450F, but not even a super impressive start could keep him ahead of the pack with his energy levels low due to waking up sick on race day.

Despite not feeling 100%, Moss still showed true champion sprit and fought through the quality field of riders to claim fifth in Super Pole and fifth overall for the day.

Overall Moss is sitting in forth place for MX1 after 2 rounds.

Kade Mosig also had a hard-fought day at the Appin track where he won last year to claim seventh overall for the day.

“It was one of those days, really,” Mosig said. “I had a really good couple of weeks between rounds, and after winning here last year my confidence was high coming into Appin, but I made a lot of mistakes.

Mosig plans to head home and refocus himself ahead of the next round at Broadford.

Meanwhile, Jake Moss was charging early in the day qualifying fourth and placing second in the first race of the MX2 class.

A promising holeshot in the second moto saw him again battling at the front of the pack before he crashed hard and finished the race in 16th and seventh overall for the day.

“After getting the holeshot in that second race I felt good and settled into a good groove, then the next second I was on the ground,” Moss commented.

“It happened so quickly and the crash moved all my teeth and split my gum, so I’m not feeling that great right now. I’ll have a couple of days off, then get back into it and recoup for the next round.”

With the riders keen to come back stronger and faster, the National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki team will be the ones to watch at the next round in Broadford VIC on 1st May.
