Trades Assistant – Perth / Full Time

Opportunity for trades assistant to join the team in a full-time position. The position will focus on fabrication workshop assistance due to ongoing high workloads in this area.

Due to our continued growth at our Welshpool branch, we have an exciting opportunity for somebody to join the team in a full-time position. The position will focus on fabrication workshop assistance due to ongoing high workloads in this area.

Position Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist trades with the effective maintenance & repair of plant and equipment
  • Ensuring delivery schedules are met in a timely manner
  • Perform assembly and dismantling operations
  • Transport tools, materials and work pieces to and from work sites
  • Ensuring delivery schedules are met in a timely manner
  • Ensure timely completion for all inspection, testing, safety, delivery and purchasing paperwork is completed in full
  • Inspections and assessments of returned fleet for damage and escalating to tradesperson where required
  • Ensuring assessments include a scope of repairs and parts
  • Escalating to a qualified tradesperson for more difficult breakdowns
  • Accurate recording of servicing information and other documentation relevant to the role
  • Timely connection and testing of pumping equipment
  • Provide support to tradesperson/s for ad-hoc servicing, installs and repairs in the field as required
  • Assist as directed by tradesperson, Supervisor or Branch Manager
  • Deliver excellent customer service and champion the NPE brand
  • Manage OH&S and environmental hazards in the workplace and off site
  • Spray-painting of equipment
  • Clean and prepare work surfaces
  • Conduct general workshop/yard cleanliness, tidiness and litter management

Skills/ Selection Criteria (qualifications & experience)

Essential:

  • Driver’s License (Minimum provisional)
  • High risk Forklift License (LF)
  • Current and valid ‘MR’ license or willing to obtain
  • Excellent time management and an ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • Well development communication skills
  • Ability to work well with other team members and champion the NPE brand
  • Ability to work with flexibility and initiative with limited direction or supervision

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a workshop environment
  • Experience in rental/hire or similar industry
  • Experience in the Rental, Mining, Construction or Heavy industries
  • High Risk, working at heights and first aid would be beneficial
