Position Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Communicate directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas;
  • Communicate directly with HSEQ to ensure effective participation by the maintenance technicians in the implementation of policies and procedures;
  • Implement programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness;
  • Assist with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions;
  • Ensure Hire fleet is ready for rent and checked within NPE return hire policy.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews based in job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge and of maintenance department;
  • Maintain and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department;
  • Ensure that all maintenance staff are trained on the updated version of the operating procedures;
  • Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems;
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimise unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner and to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Maintain and repairs maintenance shop equipment;
  • Maintain a computerised maintenance management system (Insphire) for tracking work orders, spare parts and maintenance history of plant equipment;
  • Supervise plant maintenance personnel;
  • Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner;
  • Communicate regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues;
  • Assist with the hiring of maintenance personnel;
  • Initiate and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs;
  • Track, analyse and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilisation, maintenance cost, schedule compliance, etc;
  • Ensure state and federal legislation regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times;
  • Direct, maintains and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians;
  • Coordinate activities with Maintenance leading Hands and supervisors;
  • Other duties as directed by manager.

Skills/ Selection Criteria (qualifications & experience)

  • Trade Certificate;
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence;
  • Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent and accurate typing skills;
  • Excellent Telephone Manner;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Organisational and multi-tasking skills;
  • Proven experience in management or supervisory position;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and with limited direction.

Other requirements

  • Senior First Aid (desirable)
  • High Risk Licence (LF, CN, CV, DG, RB) (desirable)
