Position Description

Key Accountabilities

We are currently looking to employ an experienced Pump Crew Operator / Diesel Fitter to join our team located in Orange at Cadia Mine Site to effectively carry out checks, installation and set-up of various dewatering pumps.

  • Accountability for the effective maintenance, repair of equipment ensuring delivery schedules are met in a timely manner;
  • Carry out engine diagnosis, mechanical repairs and servicing;
  • Conduct assessment and inspections of dewatering pumps
  • Complete the installation of HDPE pipelines
  • Complete accurate recording of servicing information and other documentation relevant to the role;
  • Complete connection and testing of pumping equipment;
  • Ensure all activities undertaken are effectively communicated, escalated (where necessary) and clearly understood;
  • Prioritise work to efficiently deliver on agreed schedules.
  • Undertake ad-hoc servicing, installs and repairs in the field as required;
  • Deliver excellent customer service and champion the NPE brand.

Skills/ Selection Criteria (qualifications & experience)

  • MUST reside in and hold full working rights in Australia
  • Trade Certificate – Diesel Mechanic with experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Current C class driver’s license
  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills for the role – ability to read, interpret and record pressure gauge readings, using measuring equipment (micrometers, feeler gauges, dial test indicators), read manuals and schematics, document repair notes and interpret parts information.
  • Be able to demonstrate skills in assessing and scoping required repairs & parts
  • Be able to demonstrate past work experience in diesel and electric pump repairs, pump & system installations, diagnostics, duty testing, well point installation.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in aligning pump ends to drive systems or the ability to gain the skill
  • Organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Able to work unsupervised with limited direction and safely.
  • Highly Desirable – experience in the Rental, Mining, Construction or Heavy industries, high risk licence, working at heights or first aid.
