Position Description

Key Accountabilities

We are currently looking to employ an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team located in Laverton North to effectively carry our repairs, assembly, testing and maintenance of plant & equipment.

  • Accountability for the effective maintenance, repair of equipment ensuring delivery schedules are met in a timely manner;
  • Carry out engine diagnosis, mechanical repairs and servicing;
  • Complete inspections and assessments of returned fleet for damage, ensuring the assessment includes scope of repairs and parts;
  • Complete accurate recording of servicing information and other documentation relevant to the role;
  • Complete connection and testing of pumping equipment;
  • Ensure all activities undertaken are effectively communicated, escalated (where necessary) and clearly understood;
  • Prioritise work to efficiently deliver on agreed schedules.
  • Undertake ad-hoc servicing, installs and repairs in the field as required;
  • Deliver excellent customer service and champion the NPE brand.

Skills/ Selection Criteria (qualifications & experience)

  • MUST reside in and hold full working rights in Australia
  • Trade Certificate – Motor Mechanic or Fitting with experience in diesel engine and mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Current C class driver’s license
  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills for the role – ability to read, interpret and record pressure gauge readings, using measuring equipment (micrometers, feeler gauges, dial test indicators), read manuals and schematics, document repair notes and interpret parts information.
  • Be able to demonstrate skills in assessing and scoping required repairs & parts
  • Be able to demonstrate past work experience in diesel and electric pump repairs, pump & system installations, diagnostics, duty testing, well point installation.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in aligning pump ends to drive systems or the ability to gain the skill
  • Organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Able to work unsupervised with limited direction.
  • Highly Desirable – experience in the Rental, Mining, Construction or Heavy industries, high risk licence, confined space ticket, working at heights or first aid.
