That’s exactly what happened to Rio Tinto when the Argyle Diamond Mine in the Kimberley, Western Australia had unexpected floodwater entry into the underground system. NPE delivered emergency dewatering services.

Services provided in conjunction with this emergency mine dewatering project include: engineering, design, installation, commissioning and complete project management. In addition to the below equipment, we provided:

Requirements, Equipment and Images

Our requirement was simple, stop the threatened mine closure due to water entry into the underground system. Pump 1,000lt/sec through four stage system. Three 600mm lines with three pontoon units and three land based pump stations.

  • Diesel powered pumps mounted onpontoons made to suit 250lt/12bar
  • Pumps powered by 780hp diesel engines
  • 20,000lt bunded fuel tanks
  • 4,500lt bunded diesel fuel tanks
  • 1,000lt bunded diesel fuel tanks
  • Flow meters
